The Great Debate

This came up today and I wanted to shed some light on it... maybe.lol

"Why do the vast majority of guys take notice of a light-skinned female versus a dark, maybe even PRETTIER, female?"

Yes, its the question that plagues are very existence...lol maybe not.

My theory is as follows.

The pivotal word here is "light". Some people would even use the term "bright" as in, "bright-skinned". To demonstrate my point PICTURE THIS:

(I can get crazy with analogies, so brace urself)

You are instructed to choose 1 flower from a bag handed to you. Upon opening the bag u notice that it seems that all flowers are the same unorthodox color, a rich black. Exotic in nature, for sure, you are stunned by the sight, but you choose not to settle in picking one of the many black flowers in haste, but you decide to at least comb through the bag thoroughly in an effort not to make a bad choice. After all, you are to only choose 1, better make it a good one, huh? While observing the flowers you stop suddenly, in that it seems that one sole bright yellow flower has been placed among the bunch. The yellow flower is not necessarily prettier than its counterparts. Its only striking difference is its color..... I believe that most pick the yellow as their choice.

Now, there are different levels in this.
You should know by now that the black flowers represent my dark-skinned sistas, and the single yellow flower represents our "yella", appropriately so, lol.

1. Rarity
The bag was filled with BLACK flowers! Just like our planet, I think its safe to say that light-skinned women are in the minority when it comes to skin color. The black flowers could be beautiful in their own right, but when you are used to seeing them, you can't help but notice the 1 Yella at the back of the club, or the 1 Yella on the yard, or the 1 yella in your class. More often than not the females that I encounter on a day-to-day basis, of african-american descent are dark-skinned. Shoot, lets put a figure on it... 4 out of every 5. eh. That seems about right.

2. "Light" for a reason
After combing through all those black flowers, I'm sure it was EASY to spot the yellow flower in that it was simply a brighter color. Call me dumb, but a lighter toned young lady, pretty or ugly, will get a glance from any man in the vicinity per the previously stated principle. She is the florescent in a room of black lights. She is just PHYSICALLY brighter. She cant help that.

The above observations are those taken b4 considering personality, style, education etc. I think that thats where most attraction begins anyway, whether you like it or not. I am not going to touch on how either type of girl walks, talks or behaves cuz I think that thats way too broad of a subject.

I said all this to say not to be so hard on the fellas. These 2 principles are hard to overcome. I'm not saying men don't overcome, because they do ALL the time, but if he glance ova dat way, or u see dude choosing that yellow flower, just know that neither party can help it.
Its NATURE baby.

my yellow flower, lol

up late... deep thoughts.

up workin on flyer designs.... mind u its 330am...

A friend sent this to me earlier today. Its an excerpt from a book that he is reading. I appreciated it, u may as well. EXTREMELY deep. I'll highlight the parts that I especially liked..

The Ludic Fallacy:

We love the tangible, the confirmation, the palpable, the real, the visible, the concrete, the known, the seen, the vivid, the visual, the social, the embedded, the emotional laden, the salient, the stereotypical, the moving, the theatrical, the romanced, the cosmetic, the official, the scholarly-sounding verbiage (b******t), the pompous Gaussian economist, the mathematicized crap, the pomp, the Academie Française, Harvard Business School, the Nobel Prize, dark business suits with white shirts and Ferragamo ties, the moving discourse, and the lurid. Most of all we favor the narrated.

Alas, we are not manufactured, in our current edition of the human race, to understand abstract matters —
we need context. Randomness and uncertainty are abstractions. We respect what has happened, ignoring what could have happened. In other words, we are naturally shallow and superficial — and we do not know it. This is not a psychological problem; it comes from the main property of information. The dark side of the moon is harder to see; beaming light on it costs energy. In the same way, beaming light on the unseen is costly in both computational and mental effort.

From the novel "Black Swan" by Nassim Nicholas Taleb

a definite future read for me...

Random thought...

"Matters of the heart are VERY difficult to argue with..."

You and I cant help who we like/love so if you find yourself openly disapproving of someone else's relationship... stop.
no matter how difficult...
You wouldn't want them hating on you.

1st love. fa real.

This doesn't happen much, but I love it when it does. Ever had a flashback of something that happened to you when you were so young there is no reason you should remember now?

I hope so,... otherwise I'm alone in this.

I rememeber being thrown in the air by my uncle before I could walk. I remember my 4th birthday at Magnum Oaks Day Care, with varied details. I remember different days in Huntsville, TX when my parents were going to Sam.

Anyway, there is one memory that hit me today. Its from kindergarten, and I truly believe that it will stick with me till the day that I die.

The year had to be 1989 or 1990. I was sitting in my kindergarten (<<<----dumb word btw, wut iz that? German?! but I digress.)class on a multicolored bench that was attached to a small table, prolly made by Playskool or sumthin. This bench/desk was near the entrance to the classroom and was pushed up against the teacher's desk.

Now you ask, "Wuts so special about that?!"... well, this bench I speak of had just enough space for the butts of two 5 year old kids. This day, I had positioned myself at the desk by myself and I can remember that I was excited to be using "markers" in coloring wutever it was on my paper. I mean crayons were coo, but markers were d sh*@. Like, they were grown up colors.

ANYWAY, as I colored, a certain young lady accompanied me at the table, and sat close enough that we were TOUCHING (<<--- I actually whispered that), something that seems so big when your young. SK were her initials.

I loved SK....

She was a little pakistani girl that I would swear to myself looked just like Janet jackson.... and I loved her. I had loved SK ever since I laid eyes on her. She has to be the first girl that I was truly IN LOVE with. I remember not being able to look at her in class, or even speak, much less speak to HER when she was around. I mean boys were pretty rough with girls at this age, but I remember not being able to come around her at all... but this day she came and sat by me!

SK started the convo... ok, I dont remember the exact words spoken, but I do remember that we sat there and talked. We talked about my little bad ace brother at home, lunch, michael jackson, and colors..... most fulfilling conversation to date.

It gets blurry after that, but I had a crush on that girl all the way through elementary school.

She battled with a sex addiction, dropped out of high school and "started a family" early, since then, but DESPITE ALL that she still holds a special place in my heart..lol.

thought I would share..

dis aint her.. but eh. close maybe..

putting my foot down...

This wont be long, but I had to blurt some of my opinions out b4 I go to bed...

Ye spazzed for the last time in my book. Dude acted like an idiot... and I have never been more comfortable in saying so.
She killed herself in her performance... blood and all....
Glad I didn't listen to her in the 1st place.

There was a lot of other crap that bothered me with the vma's, like jack black prayin' to lucifer, or jigga performing Empire State of Mind. The MJ tribute was impressive, but that was the highest point of the show... and that was in the very BEGINNING!! Oh well, mainstream music sickens me to my core these days and I am escaping these lunatics' grasp more and more with each day.

Sorry, but back to yeezy for a sec. WHAT WAS HE THINKIN?!! As you can imagine he already apologized on his blog, but I think he has TOTALLY lost all my respect. This man should be publicly flogged for acting like a complete child. How many award shows will he do this at? Its getting kind of old Ye! GROW UP!! I leave u with this. Despite his idiotic actions, this is still funny... be free.

Niaja defense...

this is amazing...
Farakan defends the country of Nigeria when Mike Wallace deems them as "the most corrupt nation in the world".

The power, conviction and confidence in his voice is inspiring. The fearlessness is compelling and really moved me...
thats how he always is tho, but being Nigerian, made this particular discussion hit home.
