Usually before a word is sung, he marinates his audience in an lengthy instrumental. I think this somehow prepares the listener.. allows them to fall into the mood of the music and better understand the purpose of his upcoming prose. His impromptu jazz sax solo always added fire to what seemed to be a highly flammable foundation... 

I grew up on his music.. and have become a true fan... so you may understand how upset I am for missing word of this.... FELA, The Musical. 

The show made it to broadway late last year, and I wish that it was a travelling show, but from what I gather it will remain in New York. The musical was small time, but was then discovered and sponsored by Jay-Z, Will and Jada. I have searched for a DVD copy of the play, but have been unsuccessful. IF ANYONE FINDS SOMETHING GET AT ME!!
